A Day in The Life of Me

My friend, Heather, suggested we record everything we do on a daily basis as a stay at home mom (SAHM). There have been some blogs and articles circulated about how hard it is etc. I don't find it hard on a regular basis, but, eh you never know how the day will end up.

12:00 am - finds me blissfully sleeping

-------time out must rescue baby that is stuck in the pantry --- oh and he has pooped. Change the baby, fix the tv for Addison, rinse out the poop and sit back down at the computer.

ok so there I was sleeping at 1:24am when I hear it, that loud angry cry! Where are you mom??? How could you leave me in here, this little crib??!! I get the baby, bring him to bed and stuff a boob in his mouth. Every few hours he wakes up and I shove a boob in his mouth (he is 7.5 months old and primarily breastfed). Then it's 6:30 and I realize he has peed all over my bed. Why? Because I was so tired last night I forgot to put a nighttime diaper on and instead left him with one little microfiber insert... pitiful. We go downstairs covered in pee. I let the dogs out, convincing the puppy that he does really want to go outside. Strip down the baby and lay on the floor with him where he then pees on my chest. Fantastic. Strip myself down and realize that the elusive shower may be possible because, miraculously, no one else is awake yet. Put a diaper on Trent. Upstairs to the bath we go. I give him a really fun toy to play with on the bathroom floor (a box of tampons, hell, he will have a great time making a mess with those and it may keep him happy for 5 minutes). I take a fast shower. Out of the shower and as I dry off the bathroom door flies open, "HI MOMMY!" Addison is awake. Clean up the mess in the bathroom that the baby made and dry off. Bring Trent with me to my room and hunt for clothes in the dark because Josh is sleeping. Put on yesterday's jeans. Kellen starts yelling "Mommy!!!!!" so into his room I go, topless. Get him out and carry down all the blankets he wants, carrying the baby, and trying not to trip on the stairs. Into the living room we go, turn on the TV because they get to watch it in the morning, one show each. Sit down to type this and the baby gets stuck in the pantry, he pulled himself up for the first time!! Change that poop diaper. Now it's time for breakfast and time to find Trent. It's 7:16am.

fold clothes that I put in the dryer last night
take a payday wrapper from Trent
switch over laundry
take a pair a clean panties from Trent
put in dirty laundry to soak because the puppy peed on it (why did we get a puppy?)
take a work boot away from Trent
hear hysterical screaming... rescue Addison from the puppy that was licking her... drama queen much?
glance at my email
rescue Trent from the pantry... stuck standing in it again.
carry Trent while: eating a cheese stick on the run, letting the dogs out again, getting Kellen cereal, Addison wants cereal but it's gone... no wonder Josh only spent $175 at the grocery store, he forgot half the things on the list (and he was so proud at what a great job he did), get everyone's vitamins, myself included, type this while Trent tries to play with the keys and pulls my hair. Snuggle with Trentie.
its 7:33

-get some caffeine and realize I never actually swallowed the pills I got out for myself. Do that before I get pregnant again, must get skinny first!
-pick up some random dirty clothes in the living room
-dress the baby, this is quite the fight, he loves being naked, but it's chilly today and he feels cold from crawling around on the hardwood.
-what's this they are all quiet? time to check facebook and enjoy my caffeine boost.
it's 7:40am

-uh oh huge freak out the baby shut off the TV... no facebook time for me!

-ok try to take 5 for myself again... cross your fingers.

-next I update the shopping list, cereal and vinegar... almost out of vinegar UGH
-time to clean up breakfast, what a mess!
-bath time: while the kids bathe I keep reminding Kellen to sit down, and not to dink they soapy water, ICK! While they play I blow dry my hair (1.5 hours after my shower), and brush it, all while holding Trent. I think about how I should put on makeup today so Josh doesn't start to wonder what happened to the pretty girl he married... who is this scumbag lol? I wish my hair grew faster, my roots are growing so slow, but I'm trying to grow my hair out it's natural color. I haven't had it that way since I was 14!! I put on my makeup while Trent chews the bathmat. I yell at the kids to stop splashing each other and tell Kellen to sit down. Time to wash them up and get them out. I decide to give Trent a bath later since I don't want to get all wet. Addison brings in her Christmas dress, a big poofy thing, and we have an argument about why she can't wear it to school. Go through every single one of Kellen's shirts trying to find the right one. We never do, so I pick one, and the screaming begins. We all stomp downstairs. I have Kellen get undies. Tell Kellen to take undies off so he can get lotion on. Argue with Kellen about getting lotion on, do it anyway and then get him dressed in shirt and boxer briefs. Help Addison get lotion on and get dressed. Argue over brushing her hair, screaming/crying begins. Finally, finish hair *BIG SIGH.* Let in the dogs. Rescue Trent from Huckle... he is always licking his face and making him cry. Feed the dogs. Pee while Trent cries at my feet. It's 8:36.

Pack Addison's backpack. Play with Trent while the kids play together. Stub my toe and say "fuck" only to be reprimanded by Addison. Serve everyone peanut butter on a spoon and orange juice. Save Kellen from Huckle. Eat my own pb on a spoon and drink water while holding Trent and picking up the kitchen. Share my pb with Trent even though he gets drool on it. Give Trent a sippy with a little water in it to wash down the pb. Rescue Trent from Huckle... he smells that yummy pb. Realize I never started the dishwasher when I go to empty it. Start the dishwasher and now am annoyed because there are some dirty dishes in the sink and the dishwasher is hooked up so washing hands and everything will be a pain until it's done. Clean off the counter tops. Drink some water. Play phone with the kids and the Easter bunny keeps calling! Yay it's almost Easter! Start another load of laundry after it has soaked. Fold clothes in dryer. Change Trent's diaper. Break up a fight. Nurse and rock T. Yell at Addison for climbing on the furniture. Kellen has to poop. Keep after him to actually make it to the bathroom because he keeps getting distracted on the way... it's only about a 12 foot walk. Wipe Kellen's butt with my boob hanging out while Trent yells in protest that his boob is gone. Back to nursing! Trent plays with my hair and we smile at each other <3 It's 9:04.

Read an email about how we should be more like dogs, and get choked up. Think about Blu and wonder how Kelly, Lulu and Derrek are doing. Snuggle Trent close for lots of kisses and tickles. Watch the kids play while trying to rock Trent to sleep. Go to sleep baby! Explain to the kids why/how people get old after they see the mail lady walk up the drive with a package (she's probably in her 60s which is practically as old as the dinosaurs). Get a small toy from the puppy before he chokes. Rock Trent, Go to sleep so I can get that package!! I think it's for Erika's baby =) Rescue Addison from her dress. She pulled her arm through the neck hole and can't get it out... Fantastic. Take a picture of Addison's cool new outfit she put on. Play restaurant with the kids. Trent is finally asleep. Transfer him to his crib, sleep well little one. Play restaurant again, drink rainbow lemonade. Addison tells me the recipe: milk, butter, sugar, vanilla - bake it, add pink lemonade, put it in the fidge for 2 days and voila! Yummy! Finally get the package and open it. It's clothes for the kids and a gift for Ernesto (Erika's baby). Put another load of clothes in the dryer. Start new laundry. Get mail from mailbox, notice an empty beer bottle and a pack of cigarettes in our yard... we don't drink beer or smoke... so that's disgusting. clean it up. Addison wants to know why I'm not drinking the beer... yeah no thanks lol. It's 9:35

Wrap Erika's gift and have the kids decorate the envelop and draw her pictures while I write her a small letter. Check facebook and email and try to write up some of this blog while the kids do art stuff. Break up 3 fights. 2 minutes go by, break up another. Kellen throws his cup of water in the sink and then cries because he doesn't have a cup *sigh* Yell at Addison for picking her nose and eating it *barf* And, Trent is up *sigh* Tell Kellen to put the umbrella away and stay out of the laundry room. Then Yell it. The threaten time - out. Go and get Trent. It's 10:05

Get ready to leave to get a manicure. Thank goodness! I need a break this week. This will be the first time since Sunday when I ran/walked for a total of 40 minutes that I have had any time w/o being responsible of the kids. 4 days. Pee while holding Trent. Go through the plan with mom for food and getting on the bus, what the kids may need to do while I'm gone, just in case I'm not back in time. Leave. Scarf down 5 peanut butter cup miniatures and a soda on the way. I am starving. it's 10:22.

Get pink nails with glitter, pretty! Should not have had all that sugar. Now I feel sick and jittery and I'm still hungry. One hour and 15 minutes (including driving time) of pure bliss. Done at 11:18.

Stop at the deli and get a bowl of soup and homemade roll for my lunch. I've now spent almost my entire allowance for the week =/ Also, pick up lunch for my brothers as a thank you to my Mama. Trent starts crying as I walk in the door because he realizes I've been gone. Kellen runs upstairs and I have to go catch him. I pee while Trent cries. Josh is finally waking up. Mom leaves. Scarf down my soup and roll while the kids whine for some even though they have eaten twice as much food today as I have. Start making lunch for Josh and Kellen (Adda eats at school). Watch for the bus. Take Addison down to the bus. Give Kellen a piggy back ride. Hold Trent while I finish my soup. Delicious. Josh is finally downstairs (it's noon). He plays with the boys while I continue cooking lunch and start another load of laundry. Help Kellen find his missing cup of water. Realize my debit card is missing and finally locate it in my car, thankfully. Put the kitchen stool back in it's place after smashing my shins on it twice. Serve lunch. Put the dogs outside and the puppy pees on my foot. Change Trent's diaper. Bring Trent with me to the post office and he cries on the 4 block drive. Stop and get Josh a diet pepsi, Trent flirts with the cashier. Come home and nurse Trent and check email, facebook while he does. He falls asleep so I transfer him to the crib upstairs. Squeeze in a quickie, while Kellen finishes his show downstairs. Talk with Josh for 10 minutes about work and plans for the addition. Start diaper laundry with the vinegar rinse. It's Kellen's nap time. Remind him to pee in the toilet not all over *sigh* Sing the wheels on the bus song with him. Hugs and Kisses. Josh leaves for work. Play knock knock, who's there, penis cake! Over the baby monitor with Kellen. Call my mom and talk about getting the entire family's pictures taken. Start the diaper soak. Blog this!! It's 1:35.

Running...

I ran 3 miles in 33 minutes today =) Yay me. It was so cold and rainy though that the last 1/2 mile was horrible.

Such a sad day.

A good friend of mine had a daughter the same age as Trent pass away suddenly last night. I don't even know how to express my feelings into words. My heart just dropped when I heard. Why would such a precious child be taken away? I can't even begin to imagine how I would feel. I don't even know what I can do for her.

Running

I used to be able to run in college when I played soccer. That's the closest I've ever been to a runner. I would run everyday at practice, 6 days a week for about 2 miles. Well for a while now I've been trying to get the baby weight off and I've been stuck now for about 2 months at the same weight. So yesterday, I started cutting out sweets. Apparently, I've been eating more than I thought... just a bite here and there sure adds up. Well what does this have to do with running? I have been running for 6 weeks now, doing the couch to 5k running schedule. =) When I say running you must first consider that the first 2 weeks I barely ran at all (it took me 3 weeks to complete week 1 consistently). Actually, the first week I ran about 1 minute for the 30 minutes I walked on the treadmill. Now I'm up to running 3 minutes, walk, run 5 minutes, walk, run 3 minutes, walk, run 5 minutes. And, I'm doing it well! My body is adjusting and I feel the urge to go running on my days off. Yay! This week will be my first week with a solid 20 minute run with no stopping. I'm excited. By the end of April I should be running 30 minutes 3-4 days a week :) Let's hope the weight starts coming off... Right now the whole workout only burns about 200 calories. My goal is just to consistently run 3-4 days a week and possibly train for a half marathon next year. My other goal is to weigh in the 140s this summer (which is about 20 pounds less than I do now).

Funny things about Kellen - repost from facebook

"mommy... I don't have any magnets." kellen, not realizing that saying that out of nowhere actually let's me know he does have magnets lol.

"I don't have anything Mommy" conveniently, letting me know he is in trouble.

the other day he had an iphone with netflix on and I told him to put it down and get his stuff for naptime. He is going up the stairs and says, "I don't have anything Mommy." Meanwhile, he completely forgot to turn of Netflix and I can hear it playing from inside his blanket lol.

One day last week he had the iphone in his room at bedtime. I come upstairs to tuck him in and he is covered in a blanket watching Netflix and says, "nobody's in here Mommy!" LOL

"I don't got nofin Brannie"

Fun Times At Granny and Papa's House

The kids and I piled in the car and drove to Granny and Papa's for our reoccurring Sunday pizza night. So after lots of wildness, such as removing all the cushions from the couch and making a giant slide, Liza, Addison and Kellen told each other spooky stories in the living room with the lights off. Listening was hilarious. Kellen gasped at every other word. Eliza, "Then they went to San Fransisco!" Kellen gasps, "where is Sisco??" Eliza explains, "It's across the country." Kellen questions, "Where is it crunchy???" LOL. Tonight putting Kellen to bed he says, "Mom, once upon a time there was a Mommy Monster. She ate butts. One day she ate a bad butt. It was a troll butt and he ate her!!!" Too funny! I tried to tape Addison's stories and some others they told tonight, but the picture was dark so it's just voices. I'll still have to upload it at some point.

The kids are all asleep and I just wrote out tomorrow's to do list... it only has eighteen things on it. That will get finished no problem... ok ok probably not. Hopefully I get most of it done and still have time to work on Kellen's scarf, Hawk's quilt and scanning, editing and uploading pictures.

Quote of the night by Addison, "I didn't really eat a dingleberry, but I did eat a dog turd once when I was two." True story.

"Dad, all the girls want to marry you." -Addison
"Well Mommy did." - J
"No dad, with that haircut, all the girls want you." -A

"Liza, your having 3 babies. But, you only have 2 boobs, so I guess one baby will need a bottle, or you'll have to get another boob." -Addison

"what do you want to eat sir?" - Kellen
"I'm not a sir, I'm a ma'am!" - me
"Ok... what do you want to eat?" - Kellen
"ma'am..." - me
"we don't have ma'am to eat." - Kellen

Midnight Giggles

Last night Kellen was having a hard time falling asleep. He was just playing quietly in his room reading books. I crawled in to bed with him and we read a counting book he counted all the pictures, "1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13." I didn't correct him. We snuggled up together our faces about 3 inches apart and he says, "Mom, close your eyes." So I did. A few seconds later I open them to see him staring at me and we both smile, then he bursts into delighted laughed and says, "Mom, close your eyes." Rinse and repeat. It was one of those great moments that fill up your heart. I love that little monster to pieces.

Overtaken with toys...

Our toy room is horrendous. Why would 4 kids (I'm including Austyn in this mess) possibly need 5 overflowing toy boxes, a kitchen, and a bookshelf. Something needs to be done. It seems like every month I go through and take out a whole tote of toys. And every time dh goes to the store or someone has a birthday more toys come in. Yes, this is also somewhat my fault. How do you decide which toys go and which stay? Both the older kids already have toys in their rooms. Most of the toys downstairs just get thrown out of the toy box and left on the floor until the drill sargent (yeah me) knocks some heads together and threatens to throw them all away. One of my resolutions this year is to stop buying extras. The kids have too many toys and too many clothes, and we spend too much money buying more... I also resent that dh buys them things constantly and I don't get to buy anything because he is always buying. I am the parent who gets all the non-fun jobs =(

"REAL" Maple Syrup

I'm trying to post more so I don't forget funny things the kids say and little moments we have throughout the day. Well, a few days ago (a week? who can remember...) Addison opened up the refrigerator and exclaims "Mom, (pause to place hands on hips)why do we have this chemical filled fake maple syrup crap in here!?" Well after bursting out laughing I thought maybe I should censor myself sometimes... or not. This funny statement stems from my husband going to the grocery store to get the ingredients for pancakes. For him, this includes bisquick pancake mix $4.99 (hello!! we can make it from scratch for less than $1), and a bottle of Vermont Syrup with maple flavoring. Now I grew up eating the "real" maple syrup and it's delicious. Josh grew up with the fake shit. When he came home imagine my look of surprise to see a bottle of chemicals in the bag. From that point on whenever I made a meal that included syrup the children and I ate the real stuff and I would say, "and here are daddy's pancakes and chemicals." Apparently, someone else picked up on this! Regardless, the day she mentioned the fake syrup was the day Josh finished up the bottle. Now, we have ONLY the yummy real stuff it may cost more, but, it's chemical free!

-12

It's was, brace yourselves, -12 degrees last night. NEGATIVE TWELVE! And where was I? Oh just out to the grocery store with Trent. He was having a hard time with his teeth last night and there was no way I'd leave him with the man of little patience. He was fine as long as he was glued to mama; so we went to the store. It was fine, an adventure, if you will. We made it home in less than an hour, quite a bit poorer. I hate grocery shopping; money down the toilet, literally.

On a plus side I'm now down 5 pounds in the last two weeks. It's amazing to see how many calories I was eating before I started counting them!!

Stay warm!

Baby #3 and Weight loss...

So I had plateaued at 176 for a few weeks. The day I delivered I weighed 213 this morning I weighed 173. Goal is 135 - 145. I have started counting calories and working out when I can with really does mean dancing to 3 songs, running in place for 10 minutes, etc. Nothing that will make me jacked but hey at least it's burning calories. I won't be able to seriously workout until Trent sleeps a little longer (his naps are hit or miss sometimes 2 hours sometimes 20 minutes). But hey I've lost 3 pounds in the last 2 weeks =) Slowly but surely haha. It's so hard to find time to sit and eat a meal so I find myself snacking all day which adds up quite a bit faster than I realized! Wish me luck on my weight loss journey, I'm hoping to be at 150 by Kellen's birthday (April 28).

Vacation Ideas

So I've been thinking about this for a while. I think for our 10th anniversary (2013) we should take a vacation. So I'm making a list of ideas. I also, at some point, want to take the kids to Disney, maybe that same year. I'd prefer going someplace where English is spoken. I don't want it to be super expensive but all the places I can think off seem like the would be =( Here is the list in no particular order:

1. Disney
2. Yosemite National Park
3. New York City
4. San Fransisco
5. Hawaii
6. Scotland
7. Fiji
8. Australia
9. Appalachian Trail
10. Scotland
11. Ireland

Josh has never been to any of these places; whereas I've been to Scotland, NYC, and Disney. Where would you go?

Booklist 2012

This year I wont be trying to read a ton of books. I have so many other projects going on and I don't want to feel like I have to hurry up and read(quilting, scanning my old photos and the family's old photos, cooking, photography, organizing the house, huge garage sale, etc. etc.). I end up getting burnt out in the fall anyway. I read at least 19 books every month until August (welcome Trenty!), then it pretty much fell apart and I ended up with 200 instead of 225.
